A 43-year-old St. Johns County man was arrested Tuesday afternoon on charges of sexual assault and battery stemming from an incident that occurred early Monday morning.
Curtis Williams was booked into the St. Johns County jail with bail set at $25,500.
Deputies responded to Fire Station 14 on West King Street for a report of an alleged sexual assault.
The 33-year-old female victim was walking on West King Street and flagged down a 64-year-old woman who was driving to work.
The younger woman said she had been sexually assaulted and was given a ride to the fire station, where the Sheriff's Office was contacted.
The victim was transported to Flagler Hospital for treatment and then met with detectives. The investigation revealed that the alleged sexual assault occurred early Monday morning at a home near the suspect's home, deputies said.
The victim also positively identified the suspect from a photo lineup, deputies said. Williams, who was also charged with simple battery, was located Tuesday afternoon and brought in for questioning. He was then arrested and booked into jail.
