Man barricades himself after assaulting 2 family members, deputies say

Deputies: Larry Rhoden believed to have several guns inside house

MACCLENNY, Fla. – A man accused of assaulting two family members barricaded himself in a house Thursday evening in Macclenny, then escaped before authorities stormed the home.

The Baker County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team arrived at a house on Glen Williamson Road at 4 p.m. regarding a man who was despondent and threatening suicide.

Larry Blake Rhoden was believed to have several guns inside the house, deputies said.

Deputies fired tear gas in the house before entering, but Rhoden escaped.

Deputies will obtain warrants charging Rhoden with aggregated domestic battery for assaulting his sister and father.
