JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested a man late Sunday night and he will be charged with kidnapping his 2-month-old child.

Percy Wilson, Jr., forced his way into the baby's mother's home at the Maple Crest Townhomes off Harts Road just before 11:30 p.m., according to JSO.

Wilson wanted to take the baby for a couple of days, but the mother was reluctant. She told JSO Wilson had been Baker Acted, and he had threatened to kill the baby.

The Sheriff's Office said when the mother refused to give up the child, that's when Wilson took the infant, showed a gun in his waistband and put the child in his vehicle.

As he drove away, police said Wilson fired a shot from his gun into the air.

JSO patrol and homicide detectives tracked down Wilson and the child at a family member's house. He was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

The child was assessed by Jacksonville Fire Rescue and returned to its mother.

Wilson will be charged with parental kidnapping and aggravated assault.
