JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One of three men shot during a fatal home invasion at a Southside apartment complex that's popular among college students last month has been charged with the murder of his accomplice, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday.

Trey Wright, 26, turned himself Monday on charges of felony murder, armed robbery and armed burglary.

JSO Assistant Chief Chris Butler said Wright and 27-year-old Bryant Collier burst into The District Apartments on Kernan Boulevard South the morning of May 18. Butler said their faces were covered and one of them was carrying a rifle, intending to rob an occupant of the apartment.

The victim of the robbery, Abdul Rosenje, struggled over the rifle and called his roommate for help. That roommate, Jabarta Moton, shot both Trey and Collier several times.

Trey drove himself to the 121 Financial Credit Union at Kernan and Beach boulevards, about two minutes away, looking for help, and someone there called 911. He was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he recovered from his injuries and was released.

The intended victim of the robbery, Rosenje was also shot. He was taken to UF Health and is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.

Butler said Wright and Collier knew the victim they were attempting to rob. News4Jax learned that Rosenje had previous arrests on drug charges.

Ask why it took more than a month to make the arrest, Butler said it took some time to get interviews with those who were injured and examine all the evidence.

"It takes time to piece it together," Butler said. "And, of course, before we make an arrest, we want to make sure we've done our due diligence and have all the facts."
