A 29-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted Friday morning on charges of armed robbery with a firearm and false imprisonment.
In September 2012, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office SWAT team was called to the Cash America store on Blanding Boulevard to handle a robbery/hostage situation.
When officers arrived, the door was locked and two store clerks were inside with Eric Myrick, who was armed with a gun.
The two victims were eventually able to escape and get to safety, while Myrick remained inside the business. After a three-hour standoff, Myrick surrendered to SWAT.
Myrick now faces a minimum-mandatory 10 years in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Oct. 14.
