PALATKA, Fla. – A Palatka man charged in the armed robbery of a Kangaroo gas station was convicted Tuesday of robbery with a firearm and grand theft.

David Marcum, 19, had been set for trial last month when defense attorneys struck the jury panel prior to trial, forcing a continuance. This month, a Putnam County jury was seated and heard the case in the one-day trial.

Marcum entered the Kangaroo gas station at 720 State Road 19, pointed a gun at the clerk and made off with cash, cigarettes and the clerk's cell phone, prosecutors said.

A sentencing hearing will be held at a later date after the completion of a court-ordered pre-sentencing investigation.
