JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police have charged a man with seven counts of attempted murder, accusing him of firing several times into car full of people at Clanzel Brown Park on July 22.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, James Butler Jr. was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting on West 36th Street. One of the shots hit a 42-year-old woman in the right shoulder.

Two other adults and four children under the age of 8 in the car were not hit by the gunfire.

Police recovered a cellphone and got witness descriptions of three people in a silver Camray, two of which got out and shot into the victims' vehicle, then leave in a high rate of speed. A search of the neighborhood turned up the suspect vehicle, which was impounded for processing by evidence technicians.

Police have not said what led them to arrest Butler, or whether there will be additional arrests in the case.
