In September 2010, former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Kassim Osgood and Mackenzie Putnal -- at the time a member of the Roar -- were watching television inside her Arlington home when Bartletto, Putnal's ex-boyfriend, entered the home and confronted them.

The defendant entered the room with a plastic bag over his face and began yelling and punching Putnal repeatedly. He also pistol-whipped both victims in the head. Bartletto then held them at gunpoint while he continued to yell and threaten to kill both victims.

Eventually, Putnal managed to break away from the defendant and retrieve her own gun while Osgood jumped from a second-floor window and ran to a neighbor's house to call police. Bartletto then made contact with Putnal again and approached her with the gun. After an exchange of gunfire, Bartletto ran from the apartment.

During the sentencing hearing, Bartletto apologized to his family for his actions. Putnal told the judge she was still in fear of her life. Osgood was not in court.
