Man in dies after motorcycle crash in Mandarin

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 44-year-old man is in critical condition after crashing his motorcycle in Mandarin on Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police said Vance D. Peterson was riding westbound down Kori Road around 8:45 p.m., crossing San Jose Boulevard when he lost control of the motorcycle.
JSO Detective D.B. Edmonds said the motorcycle slid on it's side before coming to rest after the intersection.

Peterson was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead about four hours later.

Edmonds said alcohol could have been a factor in the crash and the investigation is continuing.
