Driver killed in crash with JTA bus

Bus, car collided in downtown Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 74-year-old man was killed early Thursday morning in a crash downtown that involved a JTA bus.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Alfonso Glover was driving south on north Jefferson Street at 12:18 a.m. at the same time that the bus was headed west on west Adams Street. The two vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and collided.

Glover was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries. He died at UF Health Jacksonville. The driver of the bus was also to UF Health. He had non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the crash as it was headed back to the terminal at the end of its shift.

Traffic was diverted away from the intersection during the investigation. The roads reopened just after 5:30 a.m.
