Man sentenced to life in prison for burglary with assault on father

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mark Anthony Daly, 44, was sentenced Tuesday afternoon to life in prison as a prison release reoffender for his conviction of burglary with assault or battery according to a news release from the state attorney. 

The release explained that he also received five years in prison for battery on a person 65 years of age or older and leaving the scene of a crash involving injury. The sentences will run concurrently.

The release said, in July 2015, Daly broke into his father’s home and attacked his 69-year-old father with a knife. The defendant then stole his father’s car and was involved in a hit and run crash. Daly was later arrested by police. Assistant State Attorneys Korey Milo and Chris Huband prosecuted this case, the release said.
