JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 23-year-old St. Johns County man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years and four months in federal prison for receiving child pornography over the Internet.

According to court documents, during an investigation to identify individuals that were trading pictures and videos of child pornography over the Internet, the residence of Christopher Scott O'Brien, II was found as a subscriber to a host computer that was hosting such images.

The Department of Justice said agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement executed a search warrant on Feb. 26, 2013, at O'Brien's residence and seized a computer that contained approximately 838 videos, at least 50 of which depicted minors engaging in a sexually explicit conduct.

O'Brien was ordered to 10 years of supervised release and to register as a sex offender after he is released from prison.
