JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter, the State Attorney's Office said Friday.

The State Attorney's Office said Marcus Gray, 46, arrived at a hospital with the unresponsive victim, Latasha Joyce, 38, in January 2014. An investigation revealed that Gray and Joyce were in a relationship at the time.

The two were inside of Gray's semi-truck parked at the Tri-Star Trucking lot. The State Attorney's Office said that while they were there, the couple got into a verbal and physical altercation, which ended with Gray shoving Joyce out of the truck.

Joyce fell to the ground and did not move. The State Attorney's Office said Gray drove away and left the trucking lot.

Gray returned shortly to find Joyce unresponsive, the State Attorney's Office said. Gray placed Joyce in his semi-truck, drove to his home, put the victim in his other vehicle and then drove her to the hospital, where Joyce was later pronounced dead from her injuries.

The victim's injuries were a result of Gray running over the victim with his semi-truck, the State Attorney's Office said.

Gray was convicted of the charge in July.
