Police said the person ran to the gas station but was not shot there.

The man was transported to the hospital with a non life-threatening injury and now investigators are talking to nearby residents.

"We're getting conflicting stories right now. All we know is the residents that were able to tell us anything say they heard gunshots. Detectives are interviewing a couple people that were in the area but we don't have eyewitnesses who saw the shooting itself," said Sgt. Ricky Valentine with JSO.

Detectives spoke with the Hess clerk and will be retrieving all the surveillance footage from the gas station.

Investigators did not have a suspect description and didn't release the shooting victim's identity.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
