Police searching for suspects

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are searching for a gunman after a man was shot in the shoulder on Moncrief Road Tuesday night.

Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were called to 2143 Edgewood Ave. in reference to a person shot at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at Popeyes Chicken, they found a man inside his vehicle with an gunshot wound to the back of his right shoulder, according to police.

The victim was transported to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim told police he was driving out of the Winn-Dixie parking lot at 5250 W. Moncrief Road when he heard a loud pop.  His back right passenger window was shattered and he was shot in the right shoulder.

Police said he drove to a nearby home for assistance and his grandmother began driving him to the hospital and called 911. They stopped at the Popeyes Chicken where officers and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded. 

The victim was not able to provide any suspect information.  Police said the suspect or suspects involved in the incident are on the loose.

Officers searched the area of Winn-Dixie for a crime scene but had no results. The Violent Crimes Task Force was notified and responded.

Officers said The Violent Crimes Task Force will continue this investigation.
