Man shot while walking down West 38th Street

Victim expected to be OK

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was beaten in the head with a handgun then shot in the arm while walking down a Brentwood street late Sunday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

JSO received a call around 10:45 p.m. in reference to a person shot on West 38th Street. When police arrived, they met the victim and he was transported to UF Health with a non-life-threatening injury.

The victim stated he left his cousin's house and was walking to his house, when an unknown male asked him, "Who you is?" and the victim said back, "Who you is?"

The suspect pulled out a handgun and hit the victim on his head several times, according to JSO.

The victim told the suspect, "You got it, you got it" and kept walking. The suspect then shot the victim in his left arm.

The victim walked to his grandmother's house and someone at the home called police.
