Man sought in shooting of ex-girlfriend

Andra Thomas, 29, wanted for attempted murder

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gainesville police named Andra Latrell Thomas, 29, as the person suspected of shooting a woman Monday at about 7 a.m. on Northeast 16th Drive.

According to the Gainesville Police Department, Thomas followed the victim, his ex-girlfriend, home from her job. When they arrived to her home Thomas allegedly pulled up next to the woman's vehicle and fired multiple bullets into her car, striking her twice.

Police said Thomas, who had reportedly been texting and calling the victim repeatedly for the last two days, is now wanted for attempted murder.

According to GPD, this isn't the first time Thomas has been in trouble with the law. He was arrested in April for domestic battery by strangulation of the same victim.

Police said as a result of his April arrest, the victim was granted an injunction for protection, which included a section that prohibited Thomas from possessing firearms.

Police are now searching for Thomas, who they said should be considered armed and dangerous.

The victim's condition is not known.
