Man sought in Westside bank robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police in Jacksonville are looking for a man they said robbed a VyStar Credit Union on the Westside on Friday morning.

Police said the man went into the bank in the 7700 block of Normandy Boulevard about 9:15 a.m. and pushed a note to a teller saying he had a bomb, then fled with the cash.

The robber is described as a white man in his mid-20s to mid-30s. He had a goatee, brown hair and a tattoo on his left inner forearm. He was wearing a white shirt, plaid shorts, flip flops and a dark drawstring backpack, and no mask.

Police said he fled in an older four-door brown car, possibly a Buick with noticeable primer marks on the trunk area.

A witness described the suspect vehicle as brown or dark maroon, but the surveillance photograph indicates that it may be blue. Investigators are not ruling out any of the possible colors for the suspect vehicle.

Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to call the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at 904-630-0500 or Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
