Man who touched girl inappropriately convicted, state attorneys say

Registered sex offender Herman Jacks faces life in prison

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – State attorneys said it took 13 minutes to convict a 59-year-old registered sex offender on a lewd or lascivious molestation charge.

In 2012, the victim, who is now 17 years old, told authorities Herman Jacks had touched her inappropriately. State attorneys said the investigation revealed the abuse took place in 2008 when the victim was 10 years old.

Jacks, who is a registered sex offender, was convicted in 2002 on a charge of lewd or lascivious battery, state attorneys said.

Jacks faces life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of Nov. 24.
