Man with handgun robs Southside convenience store

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police have released a surveillance photo of an armed robbery of a convenience store on the Southside early Sunday morning.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, a man entered the Kangaroo store at 2615 St. Johns Bluff Road at 12:27 a.m., came to the counter with a package of cookies as if he was going to buy them. When the clerk opened the drawer of the register, the robber pulled a silver handgun and demanded money.

The man jumped over the counter and took an unknown amount of cash out of the register, then ran out of the store and headed north on foot.
