The Jacksonville woman whose 20-year prison sentence sparked nationwide controversy is now a step closer to ANOTHER trial. This morning - Marissa Alexander appeared before a Duval court judge for the first time since a appeals court overturned her conviction. The Jacksonville mother of three was convicted of aggravated armed assault after firing a gun shot in the direction of her husband and children. Now, incorrect jury instructions mean Alexander's pre trial process started over today. Channel 4's Kumasi Aaron has been at the courthouse all morning she joins us live with more Kumasi? 3 3 Alexander's supporters got here long before the hearing started and they just wrapped up a press conference just a short while ago. They wanted to make sure Alexander knew she had support. As for the actual hearing it was very quick and to the point. 3 One group called Sisterhood of Survivors traveled from Miami to be here today, they're all survivors of domestic violence. They say they're presence is about showing support for women who are abused all across the country, not just Marissa. 3 3 The state attorneys office has consistently said they do not intend to drop the charges.I also spoke with Marissa Alexander's attorney about how he feels about the case going forward ill have that story tonight at 5. How did Alexander seem in court?
