Missing Marion Co. kids found safe in Miami

Ocala police say Lauren and Landyn Rowe were with Carneva Ashley

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The 5-year-old girl and 2-year-old who were reported missing earlier Friday were found safe in Miami, according to Ocala police.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said the children were in the company of 69-year-old Carneva Harrison Ashley. Ocala police said Ashley is the great-grandmother of the children.

Ocala police said they received a call from the children's mother saying that Ashley and her two great-grandchildren arrived in Miami safe and sound.

According to Ocala police, Ashley and her great-grandchildren left Miami on Wednesday morning with the intention of going to Calhoun in the Florida Panhandle to pick up a relative from the Department of Corrections.

Police said the trio stopped in Ocala and stayed the night with a relative and, due to a change in plans, the trip to Calhoun was canceled.

The trio headed back to Miami on Thursday around 10 a.m., but were not seen or heard from until Friday, police said.
