"It was hopeful, you know, because we hadn't heard anything. We didn't know anything," Gerry Day said of the discovery.

Day's car was found late Saturday night in the 900 block of North Liberty Street downtown. Police said the car had been there for a while. So long, in fact, that it had cobwebs inside it.

Police said they found clues inside the car about where Rosemary Day may be. The 27-year-old hasn't been seen or heard from since May.

"That information has led investigators to discovery of other information as to where she may be," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Rob Schoonover said.

Police aren't saying what they found because their investigation is ongoing.

"They're doing things and they won't even tell me what they are, and I'm glad because I'm an open book and I might let something out I shouldn't," Gerry Day said.

Rosemary Day was last seen at her Westside apartment complex May 21. Since that time, her parking space has also been empty.

Police have said Rosemary Day was in an abusive relationship.

"She could be afraid of that person. That's one of our hopes," Gerry Day said. "Things could have happened that overwhelmed her that just made her want to get away. And I don't know, but that's our hope that she just had to get away for some reason."

Now with some evidence to help police investigate, Day's family will keep hoping their relative is found safe.

If you have any information on Day's whereabouts, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
