LAKE MARY, Fla. – A Seminole County woman has been charged with child neglect after deputies say she left her 5-year-old child in a hot car while she was at work.
Nakisha Burke was arrested on Monday afternoon at Convergys Corporation at Lake Mary, according to deputies.
Deputies said her 5-year-old son was found visibly sweating and in distress in the locked vehicle with one of the rear windows slightly ajar.
"Sweating profusely," the caller told dispatchers. "We can't get him to open the door."

The boy had been in the vehicle for 35 minutes before deputies arrived and the temperature in the car was 85 degrees, according to the report.
"They were able to communicate with the child to have him unlock the door and get himself out of danger," Kristen Bentsen of Seminole County Sheriff's Office said.
Burke told deputies she left the boy in her vehicle while she went to work her scheduled shift from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
According to the report, deputies also charged Burke with aggravated child abuse charges after finding the boy had injuries to his left cheek and eye from being "whooped" in the dark with a "switch."
Burke was taken to the Seminole County jail. The boy is staying with family members.
Convergys Corporation, where Burke works, released a statement, saying, "As a general practice, Convergys does not comment on any issue that may involve an employee. However, we can confirm that local law enforcement officers were called to our Orlando facility yesterday to respond to an incident outside the building. Convergys is committed to providing a secure environment inside and around our facilities."
