Drivers can expect lowest holiday gas prices in years

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Looking to hit the road this holiday season? This morning News4Jax spoke with the NASDAQ's Jane King about the lowest holiday gas prices since 2004.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is estimated to be $2.20 by the 2015 holiday season. That is the lowest price in over a decade for the time of the year. Though, the company is not sure how long prices will continue to fall.

"It is unclear exactly how low gas prices will go this year, but motorists should expect these low gas prices to hang around through the rest of the year and into February, when another round of refinery maintenance typically causes prices to climb," said Mark Jenkins, AAA Spokesperson.

Nationally, prices are down about 77 cents from a year ago and 9 cents from last month. In Florida, the average price this time last year was $2.97, compared to $2.093 this past weekend.

In Jacksonville, the average price is $2.07.
