Home Depot's massive data breach involving 56 million payment cards is among the biggest of all time.

Home Depot on Thursday announced that a data breach between April and September may have put an estimated 56 million payment cards from its U.S. and Canadian networks at risk. That would make it the largest compromise of debit and credit cards in the string of cyberattacks that have hit retailers over the past year.
