Thousands are expected to pack the stands of EverBank field Saturday night for the annual Monster Jam.
“It's awesome -- it's a cool job. Turning Monster Jam fans on is what it's all about," said Max D driver,Tom Meents. "Driving this beast to the max getting a lot of air doing a lot of cyclone doughnuts and just thrilling the fans."
Monster Jam is one of Jacksonville's most popular and largest single day stadium events, attracting crowds of over 70,000 fans.
A huge field of Monster Jam trucks will compete in side-by-racing and the fan-favorite freestyle competition.
Carl Van Horn, is a long time driver of one of the main appeals to the show -- the truck known as Gravedigger.
“They start playing bad to the bone right before I go, and you just hear the crowd get louder and louder," said Van Horn. "My heart is just pumping 100 mph and I get to go and cut loose."
Van Horn added, “There's nothing else like it man! It's so cool we got a truck that's 10,000 pounds, 1,500 horsepower. We can jump 20, 30, even 40 feet sometimes."
Another big draw is the 42-foot tall Robosaurus- which was inspired by Transformers.
“We're definitely the half time show. We keep the crowd entertained while these guys are out getting fueled back up and getting ready to put on a great show for the crowd,” said Robosaurus operator, Shawn Pacheco.
At 1:30 p.m. Saturday Monster Jam will have a pit party where you can see these big trucks up close and meet the drivers. The show starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are still available and some are priced as low as $10 if purchased at Southern Ford dealers. Other tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
