Morning crash closes lanes of I-95 in St. Johns Co.

Two northbound lanes shut down for almost 2 hours

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A three-car crash left two lanes of northbound Interstate 95 in St. Johns County closed Saturday morning.

It happened near the entrance ramp from eastbound International Golf Parkway.

One driver was taken to Flagler Hospital with minor injuries. The other two drivers were uninjured, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

One driver lost control and began to spin, leading another vehicle to collide with the driver's side, authorities said. A third vehicle crashed into the center guardrail, attempting to avoid the crash.

The 22-year-old driver of the vehicle that lost control was the only driver injured. His current condition is unknown.

Authorities blamed careless driving, faulty tires with little traction and a seatbelt not in use for the crash and injuries.

All lanes of northbound I-95 were reopened around 11:10 a.m.
