Hundreds of Duval County students showcase artwork

Cathedral Arts Project hosts showcase for the visual arts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It's a chance for hundreds of Duval County students to show off the artwork they've been creating all year in the Cathedral Arts Program. Every program year culminates in the annual Showcase of the Arts performances and visual arts exhibition.

The Visual Arts Showcase is held at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral and features the artwork of 300 students who are enrolled in Cathedral Arts programs.

Organizers say the Showcase for the Visual Arts allows for visual arts students to display the best work they have done over the course of the year so far.

"It allows the students to work on creating, mounting and displaying their art work in a professional manner so that they become comfortable with sharing their work with family, friends and the community," says Josue A. Cruz, Associate Director of the Cathedral Arts Project.

The event will take place Sunday, April 6 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 256 E Church St, Jacksonville, FL 32202.

The Showcase of the Visual Arts always kicks off the groups showcases; they will have a Showcase of the Performing Arts on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 at the University of North Florida Lazzara Theatre. For more information you may visit www.capkids.org

The Cathedral Arts Project (CAP) says their mission is to enrich the quality of life in Northeast Florida through unleashing the creative spirit of young people. By providing access to instruction in the visual and performing arts, they believe they empower underserved, school-aged children to succeed in all areas of their lives.
