JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A woman who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the the death of her nearly 3-month-old son last year was sentenced Wednesday to eight years in prison, plus 20 years of probation.
Prosecutors had recommended 45 years in prison for 24-year-old Stephanie Schoonover for killing her son, Logan, last September.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Schoonover shook Logan and hit his head on a crib at their Oceanway home, and he died two days later from blunt-force trauma.
Schoonover was sentenced after seven hearings.
