Motorcycle hits patrol car on Atlantic Boulevard

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A motorcyclist hit a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office cruiser on Atlantic Boulevard at Century Street near Southside Boulevard on Friday.

The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle and has a severe injury to his arm but was transported to UF Health in non-life-threatening condition. Sgt. Felipe Alicea, the officer in the patrol car, was not injured.

Around noon, the marked patrol car was traveling west on Atlantic Boulevard. The motorcyclist was stopped on Century Street, waiting to turn onto Atlantic Boulevard. The motorcyclist said he didn't see the police cruiser before he hit it.

The right front of Alicea's cruiser was dented in the accident.

One lane of Atlantic Boulevard westbound was blocked, but traffic was not an issue.

JSO traffic homicide detectives are investigating the accident.
