Motorcyclist dies 11 days after crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 62-year-old motorcyclist who was struck by a vehicle in Mandarin last month died Wednesday.

Jacksonville police said Robert Ford and another person were riding a motorcycle northbound in the 10900 block of Old St. Augustine Road the afternoon of Oct. 25.

They said a vehicle crossed the northbound lanes of Old St. Augustine trying to make a left turn and did not see the motorcycle. The front of the vehicle struck the motorcycle, ejecting the two riders.

Both victims were initially taken to a hospital in non-life-threatening condition. Ford died Wednesday from his injuries.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.

Police said their investigation is ongoing.
