National Park Service launches newest online travel itinerary

Highlights of the 22 World Heritage sites in the U.S.

WASHINGTON – Fresh off the holidays, are you already thinking about your next time off from work?

The National Park Service has you in mind.

It has launched its newest online travel itinerary, highlighting the 22 World Heritage Sites in the U.S.

From the Statue of Liberty to Hawaii volcanoes, the National Park Service said the nearly two dozen featured sites have universal significance.

World Heritage Sites have been formally determined to possess outstanding global value to humanity for their exceptional cultural and natural importance.

The "World Heritage Sites in the U.S." itinerary is the 60th in the online "Discover Our Shared Heritage Travel Itinerary Series." The series supports historic preservation, promotes public awareness of history, and encourages people to visit historic places throughout the country.
