"We're well ahead of where we were last year, but with the lockout, that put us in a tough position at this time of year," said Macky Weaver, the senior VP of sales and marketing. "But looking historically, we are in one of the better years we've had in the last 10 years."

Also helping the team sell tickets is much publicized changes to the game day experience, including new sound systems, new beer lines, and better cellphone use. The team wants to create an experience that's better for fans.

"We feel very comfortable that the people who have never had tickets or have had tickets and left us, if they come back and give us another chance, they are gonna see a better product on the field and better customer service in the stadium from the time you pull in to the parking lot until the time you leave," said Weaver.

With training camp scheduled to open Thursday, it begins a crucial six week stretch for the team to sell tickets during what is historically its hottest sales time. Weaver said once the team hits the field, the renewed passion of the fan base usually boosts ticket sales.

"We're excited with where we are now, but we can't get complacent because we need a lot of sales over the next six weeks," said Weaver.

Weaver also said that around August 1, the team will begin selling single game tickets as well as half packs similar to years past, but for the single game tickets, numbers will be limited, especially for the bigger games.
