You've heard of the Atkins, the Mediterranean, and the Cabbage diet. How about a no diet “diet” and no gym too? One health expert guarantees you will still lose weight and look fabulous.
“This is how I take my conference calls,” said health expert and author Dian Griesel, PhD.
Try keep up with Griesel as she bounces new ideas around about dieting, like don't lose weight.
“Weight is muscle, it’s brains, it's hearts, your bones, it's all the essential organs of your body,” Griesel explained. “These all add up to your weight, but fat is a whole other story [and] we could get rid of some of it.”
Griesel is author of the book “TurboCharged” and she holds a PhD in nutrition. She insists on healthy eating and strongly suggests we drink much more water, especially before coffee in the morning.
However, this is where things really get interesting. Griesel said you also don't have to go to the gym. She recommends getting up for one minute to work your muscles every two hours, even at the office.
“I do it all day long at work,” Griesel said. “I've done it in skirts, I've done it in dresses, even in tight pants.”
She guarantees this works.
Some of the exercises she suggests doing for a minute every two hours are planks, push-ups, squats, jumping jacks, and moving on a rebounder.
ATKINS DIET: There are many different diets out there. The Atkins Diet has helped millions of people lose weight. The premise is when you control your carb intake, you burn fat. Carbs and fat are your body's two sources of fuel. A low-fat diet is high in carbs; when you eat more carbs than your body needs, it stores them as fat. THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET: Another popular diet is the Mediterranean diet. Research has shown that the traditional Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of heart disease. In fact, an analysis of more than 1.5 million healthy adults demonstrated that following a Mediterranean diet was associated with a reduced risk of death from heart disease and cancer, as well as a reduced incidence of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's diseases.
