Nights of Lights begins another holiday season

Downtown St. Augustine accented by white lights through February

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – It's that time of year again when the city of St. Augustine is all lit up. Saturday marked the start of the 20th annual "Night of Lights" celebration.

City officials say Nights of Lights, which is a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, is inspired by the tradition of lighting a single white candle in a window at each home to mark the season.

It's not only bringing in holiday cheer, but plenty of money for some local businesses.

For David Scandaliato, one of the best parts is seeing the extra cash flow for his ornament business. He says during Nights of Lights, his sales triple.

"People just come through, and you don't see this many people gather, even on other holidays like Fourth of July and all that. This is the big time for it to happen, "Scandaliato said.

Nights of Lights has been extended to run through February 2014.
