Not all of Florida's GOP leaders are on 'Trump train'

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Each of Florida's four statewide constitutional officers are elected Republicans and are continuing to support Donald Trump. But even so, not all of them are jumping whole hog on the Trump train.

Gov. Rick Scott was the first of four statewide elected GOP officials to support Donald Trump. He is not, however, going to the Trump rally Tuesday night.

He was followed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and Agricultural Commissioner Adam Putnam. All three supported Jeb Bush and only adopted Trump after the primary.

When asked if Scott had any second thoughts at this point in the campaign, he responded by saying:

"I still support Donald Trump. I still support him. The, ah, look, the revelations are disturbing, disgusting, but let's put it in perspective," Scott said. "The revelations of Hillary Clinton lying about her emails, getting rich off a phony foundation based on selling access, that’s disgusting."

Scott and Putnam are both expected to seek another office, but the future is a little more murky when it comes to Bondi and Atwater.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio also calls Trump the best alternative to Clinton, but has dodged appearances with Trump, suggesting his support is more obligatory as a Republican than heartfelt.
