1969: Anti-war protesters in Washington, D.C., stage a symbolic March Against Death, with 45,000 participants each carrying a placard bearing the name of a soldier who had died in Vietnam. The march, which started at Arlington National Cemetery and continued past the White House, would go on for two days and two nights.
