1946: Country singer-songwriter Gram Parsons, who also recorded with The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, is born in Winter Haven, Fla. Some of his best-known songs include "Return of the Grievous Angel," "$1,000 Wedding," "Las Vegas" and "In My Hour of Darkness." He died of a drug overdose in a hotel room in Joshua Tree, Calif., at the age of 26 on Sept. 19, 1973.
