1 killed in Northwest Jackonville crash

3 overnight crashes investigated in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are investigating a rash of crashes in the area. The first one was fatal and happened in Northwest Jacksonville at Kings Road and Martha Street just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police said a car traveling north on Kings Road left the roadway and hit a tree. Three people were in the car at the time. A passenger, 22-year-old Chasity Taylor, died at the scene. The driver and one other passenger were taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are looking into what could've caused that crash. The names of the people involved in the crash have not been released.

Meanwhile, a person is in life-threatening condition after a crash in downtown Jacksonville Sunday morning. It happened sometime after 3 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Forsyth streets.

Investigators said a taxi traveling eastbound on Forsyth Street collided with an SUV traveling southbound on Main Street. There was only one person in the SUV. That person, identified as 30-year-old Brandon Hurley, was taken to UF Health with life-threatening injuries. The three passengers in the taxi were not injured.

Police are still investigating the crash.

The third crash happened on the Westside around 9 p.m. Saturday at Harlow and Blanding boulevards. Police said a truck pulled out in front of another car. The driver of that car was sent to UF Health with life-threatening injuries. That driver's name has not yet been released.
