Man, 31, hit by 2 cars, dies at scene

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A hitchhiker was killed early Tuesday morning on Normandy Boulevard when he was hit by two cars, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Normandy at Parrish Cemetery Road just before 5 a.m.

According to the FHP report, a 31-year-old hitchhiker, whose name has not been released because his family has not been notified, was standing in the right lane eastbound on Normandy Boulevard.

The man was hit by a Chevy Malibu, driven by a 47-year-old man, and the impact sent the hitchhiker into the left lane, where he was hit by a Nissan Altima, driven by a 46-year-old woman.

The hitchhiker died at the scene.

News4Jax is not naming the drivers because they have not been charged in the crash.

All eastbound lanes on Normandy Boulevard were closed while the accident was investigated and cleared. Lanes reopened just before 8 a.m.
