One Spark needs more volunteers

11 volunteer roles to choose from

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One Spark organizers need more volunteers for this year's crowdfunding festival.

This year, Customer Service and Registration Squad volunteers are the biggest need. These volunteers help attendees at voting and information kiosks. There are 11 kiosks this year.

"We actually need about 800 volunteers this year to fill 700 shifts," said One Spark Public Relations and Volunteer Services Manager Meredith O'Malley Johnson. "And we have 11 different volunteer roles to choose from."

Volunteers choose their own shifts, typically 3-4 hours long. Volunteers receive an exclusive volunteer T-shirt, collector's lapel pin and a backpack. Those who serve 20 hours or more will be invited to an exclusive volunteer recognition party. Many of those who volunteered in 2013 are now creators after being inspired by what they saw last year.

"You just get to meet a lot of great people," said O'Malley Johnson. "You actually help us make the festival happen because we could not do it without our volunteers."

One Spark is April 9-13th in Downtown Jacksonville. For more information on volunteering or the festival, visit One Spark's website.
