Preparations for One Spark festival

One Spark starts Wednesday, April 9; runs 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – For five days next week, about 150,000 people will converge upon 20 blocks of downtown Jacksonville.

We are approaching the one week mark for the start of One Spark 2014.

The big move started Monday into the first floor of the main library downtown.

A local furniture company called Industry West completely donated thousands of dollars of furniture for the event; An example of how much the community is rallying around One Spark.

It's moving and unpacking time this week at the One Spark headquarters downtown. The first floor of the main library will be home base for the world's largest crowd funding festival next week.

"A really amazing furniture company donated somewhere in the neighborhood of $20,000 worth of furniture for HQ, for our volunteer lounge, for our merchandise store. Just an incredible example of one of our many community partners who have been working so generously with us," said Executive Director for One Spark, Joe Sampson.

As the clock ticks from now until the start of One Spark 2014 at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9th. One Spark organizers are tying up loose ends, and preparing for downtown Jacksonville's largest innovation party.

"We've kind of been up all night since around January 1st so this is will be the culmination of a really long stretch so the team has just been working incredibly hard, as have so many community partners and interns and volunteers it truly takes a village to put this event on and we're grateful to have all the support that we do," said Joe Sampson.

The more than 630 project creators coming from all over the world, will start checking in here (library) On Saturday, from now, until April 9th, the close to 2,000 people who have volunteered are going through training to make sure things go off without a hitch.

"So next week whether you're into moving great ideas forward, whether you're into art, music, innovation, science technology, whether you're into just great food live music entertainment and really good craft beer like me, One Spark is for you," said Joe Sampson.

One Spark is from Wednesday until Sunday next week, 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. every day.

There are kick-off events this week, including a tasting event at Intuition Ale works Wednesday night. The local Riverside Brewery has made two beers exclusively for One Spark and you're invited to the keg tapping party for it.
