JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A touching tribute has emerged online to remember a 20-year-old Jacksonville woman shot and killed while working at MetroPCS.
Shelby Farah was working at the MetroPCS store on Main Street when a robber shot and killed her Saturday night.
Rashawd Searcy, who put together the video tribute to Farah, said the video (shown below) was his therapy and a way to cope with the sudden loss of a dear friend.
Since Searcy posted his online tribute, it's had hundreds of views and has had a tremendous amount of positive feedback.
But the feedback that's mattered most has come from Shelby's mom.
"It was just something that my heart was pouring out to do," said Searcy.
In an online scrapbook of memories, Searcy said he spent hours piecing together a personal goodbye to his dear friend, Shelby.
"It felt like my heart was just crying because all I was thinking was that it could be me, or one of my siblings," said Searcy.YouTube video tribute for Shelby Farah
While Searcy said her cheerleading photos capture her energetic personality, it's an image of Shelby and her mother, Darlene, that he loves the most.
The photo was taken right after Farah graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, and a photo Darlene personally thanked him for.
"It took her almost five minutes or more to get it out. This is all I have left of Shelby," said Searcy. "It felt kind of good to know that I'm a part of something that she's going to have to remember her daughter."
Searcy said he spent countless hours pouring through pictures, music and editing the YouTube tribute and plans to add to the memories in the coming days.
"I may keep going and just add on and just give the extended version to her mother," said Searcy.
Funeral arrangements are still being made for Shelby Farah.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, police made an arrest in the case on Tuesday. Authorities said more details about the arrest will be available on Wednesday.
