Orange County EMT accused of sexually assaulting woman in ambulance, police say

Edric Casiano, 41, placed on paid leave pending investigation

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County Fire rescue paramedic is under investigation, facing allegations that he sexually battered a woman as she lay unconscious in an ambulance.

According to a police report, Edric Casiano, 41, responded to a medical call at the University of Central Florida, where the victim and her friends had been tailgating during a football game last month.

The victim was found passed out in a parking garage and loaded into the ambulance.

While her friend and an EMT sat in the front, the woman was alone with Casiano in the back receiving medical treatment, according to the report. She said when she woke up, he was wiping tears from her eyes and telling her to go back to sleep, according to the report. That's when she said Casiano put his hand in her pants and underneath her underwear, according to the report.

The victim later told deputies it happened three times before they arrived at Winter Park Hospital, according to the report.

The victim confided in her friend and a nurse about what happened.

Now the four-year veteran is being investigated and his future with the department is in the hands of the State Attorney's Office. They will decide if the paramedic faces any charges.

Casiano did not return calls for comment.
