Orange Park bicyclist struck by car on U.S. 17

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – A 62-year-old Orange Park man was critically injured when he was struck by a car Tuesday night on U.S. 17 south of County Road 220.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Eduardo Arosho was riding north in the outside lane at 9:40 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound Toyota Tercel driven by Jordan Joest, 30, of Jacksonville.

Troopers said the Joest did not see the bicycle, which had rear lights. 

The rider was transported to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending.
