Deputies discovered an unlocked door and began clearing the home in an attempt to locate any suspects inside.

During the investigation, they said they found 28 cannabis plants inside an insulated closet, along with a fan and grow lights.  The plants were approximately 2-3 feet tall and had been planted in containers, according to FCSO.  Deputies did not locate anyone inside.

The Sheriff's Special Investigation Unit obtained a search warrant for the house after the homeowner, Walter Puckett, denied consent to search the home, according to FCSO.

Investigators confiscated the plants and arrested Puckett.  He faces charges of cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug cultivation paraphernalia.

"Our deputies and investigators did an outstanding job following procedure," said Sheriff James L. Manfre. "As a result, we removed illegal drugs and contraband from this residence," he added.

Puckett was transported to the Flagler County Detention Facility and was given a bond in the amount of $11,000.
