Parents concerned after reports of suspicious person

Reports of man taking photos outside homes, school

Parents in Nassau County are on alert after reports of a suspicious man taking photographs in residential areas outside homes.

News4Jax spoke to one of the concerned parents who asked not to be identified. She said she's worried because numerous parents in the area have seen men taking pictures near homes and an elementary school.

The first incident happened a week ago in front of Yulee Elementary School. On Friday, neighbors reported something similar in the Heron Isles neighborhood. On the same day, a woman took a picture of a suspicious vehicle in the Benchmark Glen neighborhood.

A concerned mother said she approached the man in the vehicle, a blue Hyundai Sonata, on Chester Road. She said the man told her he worked for the county and was out verifying addresses.

She said when she asked the man for his identification, he yelled a profanity and never showed an ID. Shortly after, she called police.

Parents believe it could be two different people seen in these incidents.

News4Jax spoke to Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper. He confirmed police were sent to the area in reference to a suspicious person, but said they were not seeking a person of interest.
