A safety group found that an alarming number of parents do not know the proper safety guidelines when it comes to children riding in cars.

The new study found that nine of ten parents stop using booster seats too soon.

Children should be at least 10 years old before they sit in a car without any extra protection. But most parents allow their children to stop using car seats or booster seats long before that age.

Seven out of ten parents don't know how tall their children should be when making the booster seat to seat-belt transition.

Children must be at least 57 inches to be able to wear a seat belt. Some car-seats allow adjustment as the child grows.
