Woman struck, killed by train in Starke

69-year-old left assisted living facility

STARKE, Fla. – The Starke Police Department says a 69-year-old woman was hit and killed by a train Sunday morning while walking at the Jackson Street crossing.

Officers got the call at 6:30 a.m. They said the found Nancy Gay beneath the train just north of the crossing.

Police said Gay was a resident at Parkside Assisted Living Facility, located at 329 N. Church St., a block east of the tracks.

Police said Gay left the facility at about 5:50 p.m., but they don't know where she was going.

Officers said the investigation is continuing with CSX officials.
